Although a little more towards the modern look, I did try to incorporate some deciduous flowering plants that might actually offer a little food for wildlife, instead of just making another vogue, desert of living furniture. The creamy leaves of the dwarf sweetflag are repeated on the stairway trellis in the variegated Virginia creeper (which is barely noticeable in the photographs, as it was a baby when planted).
